Found footage short filmed in one night and mostly improvised by its minimal cast. Two men journey into the cold woods hunting down a VHS tape in a backpack at the end of a trail for a friend of theres. Before you say “They deserve whatever happens to them”. Yeah. I mean, when your buddy gives you that job because he thinks he saw a skinwalker and is now too spooked to complete that shady-ass task, I’d agree. But they are getting paid 500 bucks so I could see if someone doesn’t buy into supernatural bullshit, they would see an easy payday. They’re also journalism students so why not film shit? Could be interesting but only if something bad happens. That’s a self-fulfilling prophecy right there. Anyways. Our fearless and deadmeat duo march into the woods to grab the pack and bicker with each other. It’s three in the morning, by the way. That’s never a good time to walk into a forest. Twenty minutes fly by as creepy shit plays out and the inevitable hits like an angry batch of folkloric comeuppance. It feels like something made for a class project that its creator put his everything into and I can respect that. It doesn’t adhere to many of the found footage rules but I can look over that because it’s a solid slice of can-do horror in the woods.
