The inhalation of cremated mental patients (on accident, thankfully) leads to the possession of a batch of idiot college students who really shouldn’t have been fucking around in an empty insane asylum with a sketchy past and plenty of death. One of these canisters of cremains belonged to a convicted serial killer who was incinerated alive, so now his soul is looking for a new vessel to get up to his old work. New girl Emma is kind of cute and on meds so she comes off as mysterious which catches the eye of bland, blonde Kolt. Emma is oddly drawn to the abandoned asylum and after a confrontation with the world’s creepiest and least threatening security guard, ends up breaking into the dump with her new set of friends. Eventually poor decisions and youthful idiocy causes supernatural terror for the quartet of easy victims. Of course, Emma thinks the spooky visions and voices are an issue with her meds and is terrified she may just be going insane again. There’s a trio of bitches picking on Emma because she has mental issues because there’s always a gang of awful humans hanging around to be terrible and fill out a bodycount. The relationship between Emma and her roomie Gabby is cute so at least we have two characters to kind of root for when the dead show up to start screwing around with the group and taking control. Personalities shift so we can easily tell people are possessed, slobby Dylan is now a clean freak, white bread Kolt is a sex pest with a butt fixation, Gabby cries a bunch… you know, the usual actions of the recently possessed. It’ll be up to Emma to save her friends and put an end to the supernatural madness which is beginning to leave drop some bodies. All of this happens in this movie but somehow it feels like nothing is happening. I guess Emma and Gabby are alright but everything else is kind of ass and the most fantastic thing about the movie is the ridiculous size of the dorm rooms.
