Dark Walker (2003) (USA)

⭐️⭐️1/2

It’s no secret I have a soft spot for these straight to DVD horrors from the early aughts. They don’t bring anything new to the table but they usually have a practical-effects boogeyman and some hilariously lazy scripts. Also, I’ve always been a fan of the budget sparing “let’s just splash fake blood on the wall” death scene. A haunted house attraction is built on some cursed land and the teen employees (checking off every box on the cannon fodder checklist) begin meeting grisly ends by something called the Dark Walker. The Dark Walker looks like the unholy spawn of The Creeper and a mummified Sasquatch and it wields a lethal scythe. The owners of the attraction have sunk every last penny into the place and seem to be a bit more concerned about a profit than the lives of employees and the cute shy girl has some kind of psychic gift. There’s also an elderly caretaker who rambles on about innocence and may be a ghost. It ain’t high art but it’s my kind of fun.
