A UFO abducts a small country’s princess just before the bomb planted on her private jet goes off. A large meteorite crashes into a Japanese mountainside and causes magnetic interruptions in the area. A reporter looks into the arrival of a supposed prophet who warns that the earth is on the brink of destruction and claims to be from Venus. This prophet looks exactly like the princess who was believed to have died in the assassination attempt, which gets a detective (also the brother of the reporter) who was assigned to look after her when she arrived in Japan interested. The intrigue is about to escalate in a monstrous way when the meteorite disturbance awakens Rodan from his volcanic slumber, Godzilla returns and destroys a ship on its way to Infant Island (luckily the twin fairies are not on board because they listened to the prophet’s warning) before lumbering his destructive ass over to Japan and the weird meteorite cracks open revealing the winged, three-headed nightmare that destroyed the advanced Venusian culture and now has its destructive sights set on Earth. Godzilla and Rodan beat the shit out of each other, causing the usual devastation but the bigger threat looks to be the space monster with a penchant for bringing extinction. Things look pretty bleak for planet Earth but there is a little hope if everyone’s favorite singing twins can get Mothra to jump in and convince Godzilla and Rodan to join the good fight. As if that weren’t enough; remember that assassination attempt? Well the killer and his team of goons are creeping around, trying to finish the job. It’s a kick ass monster bash that never really takes a break once it gets going. Akiko Wakabayashi is gorgeous as the alien-possessed princess and leads a cast of plenty of familiar faces. The Kaiju clashes are wonderful and make this bonafide monster kid feel the warm and fuzzies.
