Camp Blood (2000) (USA)

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Two couples on a weekend camping trip at the abandoned and secluded Camp Blackwood (now called Camp Blood by the locals) run into trouble thanks to a local legend. A clown-masked slasher with a machete, lazily named The Clown, haunts an isolated patch of woods that used to be the camp and murders whatever stragglers wander into his stomping grounds. Abrasive Jay hires a tough guide to help them navigate the area but it doesn’t do them much good when the psychopath marks them for death. Their guide tells them the origin story of the killer (cheating girlfriend) and the next day the couples find their guide burnt to a crisp and the stalking begins. Surprisingly mature for a low-budget slasher flick from the aughts, it benefits from a small and capable cast and plenty of breathing room. The killer may be cheap as dirt but I really don’t see much of an issue with it, especially with all those 80’s snobs blowing a big dude in a hockey mask. There’s a good amount of blood and we even get some BEWBS!, give it a go, just keep your expectations in check ya goobers.
