Miner’s Mountain (2019) (USA)

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

Responding to a call about a strange animal encounter around a rural home, a young police officer swings by to check things out with the spooked homeowner. She claims that unsettling noises and the sound of hoofs could be the local wildlife but the staring yellow eyes are something she is unable to dismiss as anything natural. The cop manages to fall asleep in his car and wakes up to horrifying shrieking in the distance. He’s recalling all of this years later as two FBI agents grill him on this unsolved murder of the homeowner because it shares disturbing similarities to a recent homicide. They believe he’s hiding something and yeah, he is but it’s never good to point the finger of blame at a forest-dwelling monster with a taste for meat. An incredibly solid twenty minutes features three strong performances from three men attempting to get to the bottom of a very dangerous mystery. Could work even better as a full length film and more time play with definitely would have helped with the mild ending.
