Enter the Warrens: a husband and wife team of demonologists who are willing to figure out and fight the evil force hell-bent on possession and murder, even though they have their own problems involving an exorcism gone wrong and an evil doll which has targeted their daughter. Earns the right to be considered one of the new school “classics”. Expertly acted, tightly paced and containing some genuine scares, The Conjuring was a breath of fresh air (a kind of fresh air...an air that had been breathed a few decades earlier) at the time of its release. It does falter a bit in its jumbled and somewhat cheesy climax but the journey getting there is so damn well-crafted, I am willing to forgive these minor issues.
