⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
There’s a few movies I consider essential 80s horror and this gem is right at the top of the list. So you know going in, the rose-tinted glasses are on and the bias is confirmed. Abandoned funeral parlor Hull House is party central for ten teens who decide it best to ignore the legends of the place being built on cursed land and the tragic history staining the halls. One séance later and the likable lumps of demon-fodder are trying their best to survive the night. Goth girl Angela instigates the supernatural shenanigans and eventually gets possessed by the demonic force laying dormant until now. Death is not the end for those unfortunate enough to lose their lives and it doesn’t take long for the majority of the elderly teens to be under evil’s homicidal influence. Angela’s hypnotic dance to Bauhaus’ Stigmata Martyr remains one of my favorite bits of 80s cinema and Linnea Quigley adds a key role to her résumé, further cementing herself into the hearts of every horror fan since. I don’t think I need to waste any more time on this. If you’re reading this here review, odds are you’ve already partaken in this blissful bit of late night heaven. If you haven’t, just go watch it. What are you taking stupid pills or something?
