The Invisible Man (1933) (USA)

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

Dr. Jack Griffin has figured out how to turn himself invisible. Unfortunately he can’t seem to reverse the effects and the serum has the inopportune side effect of turning its user insane. As Dr. Griffin’s mental stability deteriorates, his quest for knowledge turns into one for power. His former colleagues (well, the one who isn’t terrified for his life after calling the cops on him) and the woman who loves him attempt to figure out how to make the man they knew visible again. With Dr. Kemp’s life on the line, the agitated police realize they now have the perfect bait to catch the invisible menace. The barely seen Claude Rains is damn near perfect in the role using his voice to express the growing lunacy. The special effects are excellent and there’s plenty to delight in. Dwight Frye makes a cameo but so does the insufferable Una O’Connor.
