We Found Something (2022) (USA)

⭐️1/2

Ted partakes in a rock climbing trip with his sister Maxie, hoping to cure his fear of heights once and for all. A hunter finds Ted’s discarded camera out in the woods and presents the edited footage to us, the viewer at home. So we know not to get too invested in our leads… it’s not really hard when it comes to the annoying and kinda creepy Ted but Maxie is alright and easy on the eyes, so it’s not a complete wash. She’s also banging Ted’s girlfriend but at least she feels bad about it and it takes more than two to tango and also, I’d cheat on Ted too. Against his sister’s wishes, Ted ignores some caution tape and convinces her to join him continuing on the planned trip instead of finding another spot. Fuck this guy. A failed initial climb has Ted feeling defeated and Maxie trying to motivate him to keep trying. On the trek back they come across some unknown creature feeding on a bird and Ted chases after it because he’s a jackass. Now, Ted has a reason to journey back out into the wilderness. He guilts his sister into searching for whatever strange beast is out there because he thinks it would be pretty damn fun. They decide to get going after an uneventful trip but when they stumble upon a mortally-wounded woman in a tent, they realize they should get-gone right-quick. It may be too late because the goofy-ass rat-man-thing knows they are there. This leads to a detour involving the phone footage of a… oh hell… wannabe YouTube influencer (the mortally wounded woman) and she’s just as annoying as most of them are but she does catch footage of the monster. The derps find the car but Ted decides they need to go back to see if the dying woman is still alive because he doesn’t want to be a coward anymore or some shit. This brings them right to the tiny shed rat-man-beast calls home. The movie isn’t shy about showing its piss-poor monster costume and I respect that but outside of that and Leslie Gladney as Maxie, there ain’t much else going for it.
