The Invisible Man Returns (1940) (USA)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fun follow up to the ‘33 classic finds Jack Griffin’s brother assisting his wrongly imprisoned friend by injecting him with the same serum his brother used all those years ago. Geoffrey Radcliffe (Vincent fucking Price) is being charged with the murder of his brother but his fiancée Helen (super sexy Nan Grey) and his best friend (the aforementioned doctor) know he is innocent. Visiting him a few hours before he is set to hang, Dr. Griffin helps his buddy escape by making him invisible. Only taking the risk because he’s actually figured out a way to make the invisible visible again and keeping an eye on him because the serum still has the nasty side effect of insanity, Griffin and Helen hide Geoffrey as he looks into his sibling’s death. The clever Inspector Sampson (constantly smoking a cigar, puffing smoke to catch the invisible fugitive) is hot on the trail and Geoffrey’s cousin Richard is definitely hiding something. Wonderful special effects, Price’s voice acting and a suitably happy ending make this one of the finer Universal Horror sequels.
