Venom Coast (2021) (USA)

⭐️1/2

Some rich dicks take a Cabo vacation in celebration of the launch of their tech company (a dating app for rich people). Since they’re idiots, they accept the offer of some wealth-hating sociopath to escort them on his family’s vintage cruise ship (not actually theirs, he murdered to get his hands on it). Now, away from land, the mysterious asshole reveals his family to be murderers and the wealthy fools as victims-to-be. Mama takes a hammer to the two highly unlikable dudes in the party and that leaves the annoying females left to be picked off. The Coast Guard rushes to the rescue but not everyone will be standing by the time they make it. Am I saying that because you have money, you deserve to be slaughtered? No. Of course not. That’s something a psychopath would publicly express. All I’m saying is that if the option came to save myself or rescue some entitled wiener, I’d probably just raise my hands and quietly back out of the room. Venom Coast takes the gamble of offering no likable characters on either side of the wealth spectrum and we the viewers pay dearly for it. All the youthful dinks look like a porn star whose scene I’d skip and the family of lunatics are on the laughable end of frightening. The murders are lame, the mean-streak is unearned and any character depth is left sinking in the middle of the ocean to die in the dark. There is a big dumb killer in the family (who rocks some stupid-ass bulletproof gear) and a climactic battle between homicidal idiots and armed military personnel.
