Venus Flytrap (1987) (USA)
⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
After witnessing a couple rich kids steal from the same record shop they just robbed, three punks crash a party the yuppies are attending. The three rude dudes (well, two rude dudes and one rude dudette) assert their dominance immediately but soon come to the fatal realization that their wealthy hosts have some violent kinks of their own. It all plays out like a minuscule House on the Edge of the Park with a quarter of the budget and even less in the talent department. SOV films work best when they feel like they exist in some outside pocket of reality and Venus Flytrap definitely carries that vibe. It’s completely minor but it’s a labor of love and the inspiration is so obvious you can’t help but smile at what they were trying to show their respect to. The talent on show does not matter at all, it’s the love you pay attention to and this is bursting at the seams. It’s only 67 minutes long and should bring a smile to the face of any exploitation fan.
