Boots on the Ground (2017) (UK)

⭐️⭐️1/2

A group of five British soldiers make their way into an abandoned fortress while retreating from the Taliban. Once inside, they stumble across a secret room filled with ammunition and a crate stuffed with one hundred million American dollars. At about the same time that greed-birthed paranoia rears its ugly head, a malevolent force begins stalking the soldiers. With the Taliban outside and the evil within, things are not looking to good for the Brits. Shot completely with helmet cams and offering minimal light, Boots is a disorienting found footage flick. Added to the already shaky nature of the genre, viewers may not be able to take the constant fumbling. There are some wonderful bits of tension and macabre imagery but poor cgi and unnecessary musical stings take you out of it pretty easily. A very cool idea executed with some success.
