Son of Frankenstein (1939) (USA)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Baron Wolf von Frankenstein and his family arrive in a small village to claim his heritage. Thanks to the horrors his father unleashed, the town is less than happy about his laying claim to the family castle. The town will have their trepidation proven to be well-founded when the Baron finds his dad’s creation with the help of the evil Ygor. The monster is soon resurrected and Ygor uses the giant as a tool for revenge on the men who had him hung for grave robbing. Basil Rathbone gives a fine performance as the infamous doctor’s son, Karloff is fine in his final performance as the monster, Lugosi charmingly overacts as the broken neck fiend who manipulated the poor beast and Lionel Atwill steals the whole damn movie as Inspector Krogh, a keen detective who lost an arm to the monster when he was a child. A fun time made all the more enjoyable by a great cast.
