Bud and Lou are two amateur detectives hired by a boxer named Tommy Nelson. Tommy has been framed for murder by a crime boss after failing to take a dive and now he’s on the run. It just so happens his gal’s uncle has been willed John Griffin’s invisibility formula but is hesitant to use it until he can figure out a reagent. A visit from the police forces Tommy to take it and, sure enough, he vanishes into thin air. He convinces Bud and Lou to go undercover with Lou as boxer and Bud as manager and Tommy as the unseen third man helping Lou to look like some sort of boxing prodigy. There’s a few laughs but more misses as our bumbling heroes get to the bottom of things. Bud Abbott and Lou Costello are in fine form but are mostly let down by a script that just doesn’t do much for ‘em. Still, it definitely has its moments and Costello’s boxing style will always make me smile.
