⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Badass Wayne Crawford is a sloppy and sarcastic Miami cop with plenty of bullshit going down in his personal life. His wife and he separate when he finds out she’s cheating on him with another woman and he immediately moves in with his female partner. Now, you may be saying our hero Pete is looking to bang the lovely detective but it honestly seems like he has nowhere else to go and that emotional minefield will have to wait anyways. They’ve got a head-collecting, shape shifting African demon terrorizing the community to contend with. On top of severing noggins, the damn thing can take possession of humans and one of those humans is his damn ex. This is one shitty year for our mustachioed hero. As the two detectives dig into the growing body count, they eventually have to admit there’s something beyond normal going down and it began festering within the Nigerian community. POV zoomin’ and quick flashes of a rubbery monster bring the demon to life and there’s a couple decapitated heads added to the action. The deep dive into the personal life of our hero is unexpected and may throw some viewers off who were looking for demon action and splattery head removal but Wayne Crawford is such a likable damn actor that I found myself easily wrapped up in the non-supernatural bits of his misadventure of a life. Kay Lenz is also great as his partner, looks fantastic rocking a ponytail and actually has chemistry with the leading man. It’s a fun procedural with some dark humor and the bonus of featuring an unexpected antagonist in the form of a sword-swinging demon you sadly don’t get to lay your eyes on all that much outside of the killer climax.
