A young hospice nurse moves into the house of an elderly author to make her final days as comfortable as possible. Her most famous novel, The Lady in the Walls, offers an answer to a question that arises when nurse Lily begins to think there may be a presence in the house. A spreading mold on a hallway wall hints at rot and Lily begins having horrific hallucinations the longer she stays in the house with a secret. Chilling ghost story from Oz Perkins is a slow burning thing of beauty. Pitch-perfect narration increases the tension to a suffocating level, warning of a tragedy our protagonist cannot escape. The specter haunting the cozy home is low-key brilliant and there’s a successful phone cord scare....yes, you read that correctly.
